Anass Sentissi is an accomplished Middle Eastern percussionist, performing on the darabuka (tabla or dumbek) and tar (riqq). Growing up in Meknes, Morocco, he studied and performed Moroccan Andalusian classical music (Click here for more on Andalusian Music) as well as Middle Eastern popular music forms more generally, receiving national attention for his percussion skills, before moving to the U.S. In the summer of 2005, Anass co-founded the Moroccan Andalusian Classical Music Orchestra of Bloomington, Indiana, a performing ensemble dedicated to cultural engagement and educating the Indiana community about that repertoire and its significance.
